| Breaking News |  | Monday, September 18th, 2023: Augusto Rodríguez Injured, Out for Year
Washington fans will be disappointed to learn that Augusto Rodríguez developed a sprained ankle while running the bases in today's game. After the doctor informed the Washington Nationals manager that Rodríguez was expected to miss 1-2 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the left fielder could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.
This season Rodríguez is batting .272 with 74 RBIs, 79 runs scored and 22 home runs.

Brad Ervin of the Washington Nationals blanked New York (N) 9-0 on 1 hit. He rang up 6 strikeouts, keeping batters off balance all day long.

At the age of 26, Dillon Johnson might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Washington first baseman put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days collecting the National League Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 13 hits in 28 at-bats, 3 home runs and 6 RBIs last week in 7 games.
For 2023 Johnson is hitting .290 with 26 home runs. His stats include 73 RBIs and 63 runs scored.
