Bought for $200.00 and a rotted out s10 2wd trade.
Needed exaust work and steering work right away other wise seemed ok mechanicaly.
after puting a cheep cat and adjusting steering gear box went to the cliffs insaine terrain to check everything off road
I was very impressed for stock but need more clearance on diffs
well on the way home the steering tried to lock up on a couple of turns and with the exaust quit now i could hear a bad bearing in the transfer case and sycros in trans.
steering gear box
yes thats a broken tooth
well called the junk yards around here and was shocked that the first one i called had 2 samis got the replacement for $25.
Also went back the next week and got the trans and replaced it for $75.
ordered new bearing for out put shaft in transfer case. no more noise.
next i repaired the rusted out rockers wich i didnt realy notice untill i lost one of the plastic covers on the trail.
left side new steel welded in
before
after
right side
before
after
Next came the 2" calmini shackle reversal
here is pict before and after
and next sky 2" body lift
wheel wells should have room for larger tires now
and here they are
had to cut the bumper mount tubes off and modify rear of front wheel well
and modify bumper and mounts
and here it is with the tires on
The ride was better after the reversal but the 31 11.50 ltb's made it rough again
Now im waiting on calmini rocker skids and shrokworks gas tank skid (old one rotted off)
Ill take more picts when installing them and post. Should be here soon

Glad to see you posting and like what you've done with your rig
What size angle did you purchase for your rockers? Thats gonna be my next project and I haven't figured out what size to use.
Also, did you do anything with the crimped metal on the bottom of the rocker or did you just run the angle over it?
Now that your here please feel free to post more often!

Thanks
so far everything works well. Need a little more power and the cd skips
but its my first zuk and im very impressed with it.
actually the power is good before the 31's it would do 65 - 70mph on highway (not with strong head wind) and with 31's the spedo says 55
(no gears yet) guessing its realy about 60.

CD skips I only have a tape deck.. figured that might happen.
If you decide to go with lower gears you will love the difference, I'm running 33"s and have the 5:13's and the 4to1 case, for awhile only had the 4to1 case, but love the what seems like new found power with the 5:13's and the case. currently doing the 1.6 motor swap and have heard that with the added power i might be to low, Have to wait and see.
Sounds like your hooked can wait to see your next addition.

Im hooked in every way including the wallet Ive put all other projects on
hold Have a partily remodeled laundry room waiting for cabinets but the
money always seem to go to the sami. Calmini formed rock sliders
showing up tommarow ill post picts of the install and shrokworks gastank
skid should be here next week. Hows the 1.6 going I was looking at the
sumo 1.3 but that will be a while I still need to get a another tire and rim
so i have a proper size spare.

Im hooked in every way including the wallet.. funny how that works.. If there wasen't 30+ inches of snow on the ground I'm sure my 1.6 swap would be done hard to get in the building mood when its cold and you spend all day shouveling snow... Still waiting on the harness from trail tough so not all my falt. Looking forward to seeing your upgrades, as for that spare tire I know what you mean, not sure if you have seen by build up post, but that was my last post Finialy a 33" spare to mach after almost 2years. Just glad I never needed it.

the new rocker skids showed up today
here is a picture of the bare rocker
rocker skid held in place with jack to mark mounting holes in
in rocker and floor
installing bolts the hole behind the rocker is larger and a sleeve
is inserted to prevent the rocker from crushing
this is kinda hard to see there is a large washer plate on each
bolt to give extra strength to the mounting locations
here is the finished install
